About

Hi, I’m Abby Bartels Bolduan — a graphic designer and illustrator with a background in surface and pattern design and a love for bold, playful, hand-drawn work.

I’ve always enjoyed letting creativity be part of my job (arguably the best part), and over the past five years I’ve developed a strong focus on surface design and pattern making. Through my current work, I’ve had the opportunity to create patterns regularly, which has only deepened my interest in designing for textiles, products, and licensed collections.

My work often blends illustration, pattern, and branding, with an emphasis on approachable design that feels energetic, thoughtful, and a little bit fun. I’m especially drawn to projects that allow illustration and surface design to work together — whether that’s building a brand, creating repeat patterns, or developing artwork for textiles and products.

Outside of design, you’ll usually find me coaching high school wrestling or playing softball, which helps balance out the many hours spent drawing (and redrawing) patterns. I bring that same mix of discipline and playfulness into my creative work — serious about quality, but never taking things too seriously.

I’m currently seeking opportunities with clients and employers who value creativity, collaboration, and design with personality.
